| April 2008 | Country Life Open Day |
|
As usual now with this event, a great time seemed to be enjoyed by all. Scott MacKenzie had us all enthralled with his demonstrations of Spey Casting, and Welsh internationalist Hywel Morgan had even seasoned fly fishers rivetted with his well-observed and informative presentation on trout casting. Edinburgh Fly Tyers provided the indoor demonstrations and we were all dazzled by the displays of new gear and other goodies in the maijn marquee. See more pictures on the Gallery page. |

Fishing Competition Results
|
| On our Bowden Loch we were blessed
with some good weather for our Second January Competition. After
a bit of a cold start anglers were regularly picking up trout coming
higher in the water and great sport was had as the day progressed. Michael
Rennie (Edinburgh) took first prize of a Greys GRX rod for his catch
of 4 fish for 17lb 8oz best being 8lb 3oz. Regular angler Peter Sinclair
(Livingston) bagged second prize of a Greys reel for his 4 fish for
14lb 7oz best being 5lb 5oz and third prize of a Hardy fly line went
to Robert Farquhar (Livingston) for his 4 fish for 10lb 6oz. The winning
technique was slow intermediate line and small mini lures such as pink
dancers and orange hot head damsels (see this month's Fly
of the Month). |
